  • How do I register for After Hours Assurance?

Each veterinary clinic offering After Hours Assurance has customized pricing plans. Please inquire with your clinic or click here to learn what plan options are available to you.

If your clinic offers the opportunity to register prior to using the service, you can do so in one of four ways:

    1) Receive ONE FREE MONTH of service and register online. Click here to register now.
    2) Receive ONE FREE MONTH of service and register in your clinic.
    3) Mail the registration form found in the After Hours Assurance brochure.
    4) Or call your regular veterinary clinic phone number.

Please note: registering online requires a valid credit or debit card.
  • How do I know if my veterinarian offers this service?

You can determine if your veterinarian offers After Hours Assurance in one of three ways:
    1) Ask your veterinarian or the staff at your clinic.
    2) Call customer service at 1-800-204-4595.
    3) Search for your clinic online.

  • Are there any advantages to registering one way over the others?

Yes. By signing up online (http://www.afterhoursassurance.com/zip_search.php) or in your clinic, you will receive an additional month of service for FREE. That is 13 months of service for the same price!!

  • If the plan I choose requires registration, when do I need to register?

In an emergency, you don’t want to waste precious time! Your After Hours Assurance clinic recommends registering before an emergency occurs so that you can avoid the time it takes to process your personal and credit card information over the phone.
  • Once I’ve registered, how soon can I begin using the services?

If you register online or over the phone with an After Hours Assurance Call Representative, your registration will happen immediately. If you register in the clinic, you will be able to use the service that same day. If you mail in your registration, it will be processed within 5 business days of receiving the registration and processing your payment.
  • How do I know that my registration is confirmed and that I can begin using the service?

If you provide an email address when you register, you will receive an email to confirm your registration. You can also call customer service or your clinic and they can confirm your registration.
  • Why am I asked to provide my email address when registering?

By providing your email address, you become eligible to receive email-only discounts, offers, and other important notifications from After Hours Assurance about your account and registration (such as renewal and/or expiration information, and upgrade opportunities). After Hours Assurance does not sell your information to any third party.
  • Will I have to pay more to register more than one pet?

No. All call plans are per household. You can register all of your pets for the same low price. When you get a new pet, simply log in to your personal account or call customer service and speak to an After Hours Assurance representative who will update your registration to include all of your family pets.
  • What does my After Hours Assurance registration include?

As a Gold Member, you will be able to make unlimited after hour emergency calls for any pets in your household for one year. You are also assured the same valuable coverage when traveling with your pet.
  • Do I have to be an active client at my clinic to register for After Hours Assurance?

Each clinic offering After Hours Assurance has customized pricing plans and policies. Some clinics require that you have visited their clinic within the last 12 - 24 months, while other clinics allow any of their clients to use the service. Call customer service (1-800-204-4595) or inquire with your clinic for their policy.
  • Are there exclusions as to which types of pets I can register for After Hours Assurance?

In most cases, if your veterinarian treats your pet in the clinic during business hours, then your pet is eligible to receive After Hours Assurance coverage. To be certain, it's best to inquire with your clinic for their policy.
  • Will I ever have to talk to a veterinarian I don’t know?

Depending on which veterinarian is on call when your emergency occurs, you may talk to a veterinarian in your clinic whom you have never met. However, this veterinarian will be a member of your clinic’s staff.
  • How will I know if I have a real emergency and need to use the After Hours Assurance service?

After Hours Assurance is not a replacement for emergency care in the case of serious injury. If you have any doubt that you might have an emergency, call to discuss your pet’s behavior with the veterinarian on call. The vet will determine if you have a real emergency and consult with you about the best course of action.
  • What happens if my pet gets worse while I’m waiting for my veterinarian to call?

The best care will always result from a physical examination. When the medical concern with your pet is getting worse, you can certainly begin driving to the 24-hour clinic while you await a return call from your veterinarian.
  • Where would I take my pet if the veterinarian determines an emergency visit is necessary?

Your veterinarian will recommend either the nearest emergency clinic capable of providing your pet the immediate medical attention he or she requires, or ask that you bring your pet into their clinic for treatment. To be certain, inquire with your clinic for their policy.
  • What if I want to cancel my After Hours Assurance registration (if I move, change veterinary clinics, or if my pet dies)?

You can cancel your registration at anytime by calling your veterinary clinic or by logging in to your account. Please note that all registration fees are non-refundable.
  • If I change veterinary clinics, how can I get After Hours Assurance for my pet if the new clinic doesn't offer it?

Contact customer service and provide the name of your new veterinary clinic or go to www.AfterHoursAssurance.com and click on 'Contact Us' and submit an email with your new veterinary clinic's information. An After Hours Assurance representative will contact the new clinic to discuss offering After Hours Assurance to their clients. • What if the payment for my auto-renew does not go through? Will someone contact me so I can ensure my registration won’t lapse?
